Radio LoRa – the alternative voice of Zurich – celebrates its 35th anniversary with the archive exhibition Reclaim the Radio! and the Audio Art Festival at SHEDHALLE Zurich.

Radio LoRa is a child of the ‘radio pirate’-scene and, with a Federal Council’s license, in 1983 became the first legally broadcasting community radio station in Switzerland. For more than 35 years, Radio LoRa has been reaching Zurich and its surroundings with its program and remains an important catalyst for change today, offering progressive forces and social movements an open space for artistic expression and political concerns.

Reclaim the radio! Archive exhibition on the occasion of 35 years Radio LoRa at SHEDHALLE Zurich traces an arc from the station’s origins in the autonomous youth movement in 1970-80s Zurich to the digital era. Through internal and official documents, LoRa printed and promotional materials as well as press articles from archives and private collections, the curators recount the moving history of the radio station and shed light on conflicts, setbacks and new beginnings.

The archive exhibition is accompanied by an Audio Art Festival with international and local guests, who enter into a dialogue with the exhibition in their performances and sound installations. Radio LoRa broadcasts the Audio Art Festival live and as a further highlight airs a 35-hour special program with gems from the LoRa archives. The Audio Art Festival concludes on November 17 with the Radio Festival at Rote Fabrik (Clubraum).
